"Five Things you Need to Know This Weekend" is the weekend version of the Patch column "Five Things You Need to Know Today." The weekend edition provides readers with essential information for both Saturday and Sunday.
1. A Night of Music and Laughter for Anne McCormick
There will be a benefit for the Scholarship Fund and St. James Youth Group Mission Trip on Saturday, January 28 from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. at the , 560 Page Street in Stoughton.

The cost is $20 per person. There will be a cash bar of beer and wine and appetizers and desserts will be served.
The evening will feature comedian Paul Nardozzi and Linda Belt with music.

McCormick, an active member of both POPS and the St. James Parish, lost her battle with cancer two years ago.

2. Get Your Oil Changed, Help the Stoughton Food Pantries
Every Saturday during the months of January and February, Windsor Tire and Island Street Auto will donate $10 to for every oil changed performed.
You can also participate by making a monetary donation or dropping off any non-perishable food items to either location.
The Doin' It For Diane Stoughton Food Pantry Fundraiser is supported by the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce and Copy Inks.
3. Week 7 STOYAC Travel Basketball Home Schedule
Stoughton will be hosting the following games on Sunday, January 29 at the gym:
- 8:30 a.m. - 4th grade boys vs. Brockton
- 9:50 a.m. - 5th grade boys vs. Needham
- 11:10 a.m. - 5th grade girls vs. Newton
- 12:30 p.m. - 8th grade girls vs. Dedham
- 1:50 p.m. - 7th grade girls vs. Westboro
- 3:10 p.m. - 8th boys vs. Ashland
Admission is free at all times so come and watch the Stoughton teams play.
4. Patriots Invite Fans to Super Bowl Send-off Event at Gillette Stadium
A trip to the Super Bowl deserves the ultimate send-off, and that’s exactly what the AFC Champion New England Patriots will get at noon on Sunday, Jan. 29 at Gillette Stadium.
The event is free and open to the public. Gillette Stadium’s Patriot Place Gate (located near the ticket office and the The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon) will open at 10:15 a.m. Parking is free. No tailgating will be allowed.

5. Looking Ahead: "Guns and Hoses" Hockey
This year's "" hockey game between the Stoughton Police and the Stoughton Fire Departments will take place at the Metropolis Ice Rink in Canton on Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
At 8 p.m. Canton will square off against Braintree. All donations will go toward the Fisher House for returning veterans.
Last year, the SFD beat the Stoughton Police 5-2 in the fifth annual “” hockey game, the SFD's first win in the series.
