Pat Jackman had what coach Harvey Blonder called a “banner day” at Saturday’s Hockomock League Indoor Track Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center, finishing fifth in both the 55-meter dash and the long jump.

The finished eighth overall at the League Championship with a total of 10 points, ahead of Davenport Division rivals Canton and Sharon, two teams that beat Stoughton in the regular season.

Jackman and Nick Green led Stoughton with four individual points apiece. Brandon Alves scored the other two points for the Black Knights.

Jackman’s dash time of 6.90 equaled his personal best, while his long jump (19', 4.5") was just half an inch off his personal best. Blonder said Jackman finished the day turning in the best time on Stoughton’s seventh place 4 x 400-meter relay team, despite having “extremely fatigued legs.”

Green ran an “electrifying mile,” Blonder said, finishing fourth overall with a time of 4:32, a new personal best. Green’s time was six seconds better than his previous personal record, and was the fastest mile time from a Stoughton runner in more than 10 years, according to Blonder.

Alves came in fifth in the shot put event with a distance of 43 feet, 7 inches.

Blonder said, “the league championships brought out the best in several Stoughton boys.”

Wayne Barnaby lowered his personal best in the mile to 4:47.

“At the same time last year Wayne's mile best was 5:40,” Blonder said.  “His improvement by close to a minute is amazing.”

Jack D'Addieco qualified for the state meet for the first time in the 600-meter event with a time of 1:31.23, while leading Sheldon Oliviera (1:31.49) and Mike Romaine (1:32.16) to new personal bests.

Kevin McDonald (9.32 seconds) lowered his best in the 55-meter hurdles.

And, Alec DeNapoli (2:58.85) broke the 3-minute barrier in the 1000-meter event for the first time. He finished one second behind teammate David Lockhart in the same event.

Next up for Stoughton is the MIAA Division 2 Championships (for those who qualified) on Thursday, February 16.
