Region Roundup: Fatal Car Accidents (And More…)

A Foundry Street accident in Easton resulted in the death of a Norton man Tuesday night, April 10, according to Easton Police.

Easton Police Chief Allen Krajcik said in a statement that Eric Gryzboski, 36, of Eisenhower Drive in Norton, went off the road while heading westbound at approximately 10:45 p.m. and crashed his 2002 GMC pickup truck into a large tree near the Norton town line.

Family, friends and much of the Mansfield community came to pay their final respects to Michaela Smith on Friday morning at her funeral service at Saint Mary’s Church.

Smith, 16, died last Saturday, April 7, after an early morning car crash in Foxborough. She was a junior at Mansfield High.

Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown made a stop in the Stoughton area on April 11 as he makes his bid for reelection to the U.S. Senate this November.

The Wrentham Republican pulled into the parking lot of Queen Anne’s in Canton around noontime on Wednesday, April 11, driving his now infamous Green GMC Canyon pickup truck. The restaurant is located just over the Stoughton town line on Route 138.

Brown went into the restaurant, greeted a room full of supporters and ordered lunch as part of this campaign stop.

Norton was well represented at Saturday’s playoff game between the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals. The Norton Police Honor Guard was selected to present the colors during the National Anthem.

Scott Brody, co-founder of Everwood Day Camp in Sharon recently made a presentation during the American Camp Association's Tri-State Camp Conference, held March 13 to March 16 in Atlantic City, N.J. entitled, "21st Century Skills: How Camps Teach What Children Really Need to Learn!"  

Everwood, and Brody's talk, are rooted in the association's "20/20 Vision," an effort promoting "opening up the camp experience to 20 million children by the year 2020, which would essentially double the number of kids that go to camp," he says.
