Stoughton Fire Department Responds to Brush Fire Wednesday Morning

The brush fire occurred in a half-acre section of woods off Simpson St. in Stoughton on April 11. There were no injuries or damage to any homes.

The extinguished a small brush fire Wednesday morning in the woods off Simpson St.

The fire spread to about a half acre, Lt. Bill Carreiro of the SFD said. Stoughton Fire crews responded around 7:30 a.m. on April 11.

The fire was in the woods off Simpson St., towards the street’s terminus, down by its intersection with Memorial Dr.

There were no injuries or damage to any homes.

Carreiro said these brush fires have become common as of late with the dry weather, due to the lack of rain.

He cautioned people to becareful when disposing of cigarettes as throwing a cigarette butt into the woods can start a brush fire.  

The National Weather Service’s seven day forecast shows a small chance of rain over the next week, but there are no predictions of any heavy precipitation.
