Stoughton Girls Help AAU Basketball Teams to Championship Wins

A total of nine Stoughton girls in 5th, 6th and 8th grade helped their respective AAU basketball teams win championships the weekend of April 7-8.

The following was submitted to Stoughton Patch:

Four 5th grade girls, four 6th grade girls and one 8th grade girl from Stoughton playing for the Boston Showstoppers AAU basketball program helped capture the 5th, 6thand 8th grade titles at the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic in Springfield, MA last weekend. 

The two day tournament hosted close to 90 teams from all over New England.

The girls played anywhere from 2-4 games in one day with the final Championship game for each of the teams being held in the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield.

The competition was outstanding and it is a testimony to the Stoughton girls that they were not only able to compete at such a high level, but were able to capture titles for each of their respective divisions.

The 5th grade team included Jada Sheedy, Sadie Homer,  Kylie Pizzano and Mia Bennett from Stoughton. The 6th grade team included Gigi Denapoli, Asiah Dingle, Jordan Motleyand Val Whalen from Stoughton and the 8th grade team included Bridgett Whalen from Stoughton.

The Boston Showstoppers was founded in 2007 as an academic and athletic enrichment program whose mission is to develop elite student female athletes who are committed to academic excellence, self-empowerment, community engagement, good nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
