Stoughton PD Starts Surveillance Camera Registry
Interested camera owners can sign up for the optional program at the police station on Rose Street.

STOUGHTON, MA — The Stoughton Police Department is hoping that you'll let them know if you have a security camera.
The department announced this week that they have started a voluntary camera registry program. Police say the program will allow officers to keep a database of cameras around town so in the event of a crime, they can check area surveillance cameras .
"This is not a “big brother is watching” registry. This is a program that would allow us to know where cameras are so we can reach out to you in the event of crime in your area. Our residents have spoken loud and clear when it comes to their willingness to help. We have brought criminals to justice with people like you sharing their video with us," Stoughton Police wrote on Facebook.
