Stoughton Police Officer Dead At 42, 'Will Be Greatly Missed'
The 17-year veteran died suddenly after he was found unresponsive at his Brockton home, authorities said.

STOUGHTON, MA — Stoughton police are mourning one of their own after Officer Christopher Davis died suddenly. He was 42.
A 17-year veteran of the Stoughton Police Department, Davis died while off-duty after being found unresponsive around 9:45 p.m. Saturday in his Brockton home, according to a department news release.
"Officer Davis's kindness, bravery, dedication and devotion to his family, friends, the men and women of the Stoughton Police Department and the Stoughton community will be greatly missed," Chief Donna McNamara said in the news release. "Please keep his family, friends and the members of the Stoughton Police Department in your thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time."

Davis is survived by his daughter, fiancé, mother, brother, niece and grandchildren.
Davis spent most of his career on the overnight shift, but moved to the day shift last year. Over the past five years, he served on the Stoughton Police Special Operations Unit. He was also the department's defensive tactics instructor and a certified arson investigator, representing the police department in fire investigations with the Stoughton Fire Department.

In 2012, he was given the police department’s Distinguished Service Award.
