Independence Day: What's open and closed in Stoughton on Wednesday, July 4.

Here's the list of what is open and closed in most states on this Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4:

Open:

  • Retail Stores
  • Supermarkets
  • Restaurants
  • Convenience stores
  • Bars/Taverns
  • Gyms/Health Centers
  • Call ahead before heading to any of the above establishments to confirm they are open. Many retail stores may be operating on a Sunday schedule.

 Closed:

  • Banks 
  • No Mail Delivery - All U.S post offices are closed.
  • State Offices
  • Town Hall and municipal offices (Stoughton Town Hall)
  • Schools (it's summer vacation, but this applies to school offices)
  • Stoughton Public Library
  • The Stoughton Council on Aging
  • Stock Market
  • Federal Offices
  • Camps (check your summer camp's individual schedule)

No Trash Pickup on July 4th in Stoughton:

On Wednesday, July 4th, there will be no curbside trash collection in observance of Independence Day. Trash collection for Independence Day will be scheduled for Thursday, July 5th, in addition to the regular Thursday collection. This is standard procedure for any holiday.

All rubbish and recyclables must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day. Please place recyclables apart from regular rubbish (stickers facing the street).

No barrel over 30-gallon size will be emptied. Large household  appliances (metal items) must be called into the Public Works for  appointment for pickup.
