Yellow Dot Program Looks to Help Stoughton Seniors Involved in Car Accidents or Medical Emergencies

Norfolk County Sheriff Michael G. Bellotti has introduced the into the town of Stoughton. The program is designed to help senior citizens if they are involved in a motor vehicle accident or a medical emergency while driving.  

“This program is completely free-of-charge to the public,” Sheriff Bellotti said. “Program participants receive a Yellow Dot decal and place it on the rear window of their vehicle to alert emergency first responders to a medical information packet enclosed in the glove compartment.”

Stoughton residents can sign up for this program on Wednesday, August 22 at the located at 110 Rockland St. between the hours of noon and 2 p.m. They will have their photos taken and be given a medical information card to be filled out and returned.

On Wednesday, August 29 at 11:30 a.m., participants should return to the Council on Aging with their completed medical information card and at that time they can pick up their “Yellow Dot” packet.

The driver can then put the medical card in the packet and then place it in the vehicle’s glove compartment and attach the Yellow Dot decal to the vehicle’s rear window.

“Stoughton is the 13th community in Norfolk County to avail itself of the program, and we’re glad to be working with so many good people there,” Sheriff Bellotti said. “We strongly believe this program can save lives.”
