4/19/2025: 250th Anniversary of the Sudbury Minutemen march and the Battles of Concord and Lexington
- 250 years ago, on 4/19/1775, ordinary citizens from Sudbury, who could get ready to march and fight in a minute, the Sudbury Minutemen, marched off to Concord and Lexington, knowing not whether they would return home. Two of them did not. Sudbury men, 78-year-old Deacon Josiah Haynes and 22-year-old Asahel Reed, were killed during the Battles of Lexington and Concord.
Sudbury sent more fighting men to the Battle of Concord than any other town.
They answered a call as old as the human spirit – to live free and to be governed by their consent. They set off a series of events that led to the democracy that we enjoy today.

Let us honor their sacrifice and service by preserving and continuing that legacy for our children and grandchildren.
Tomorrow morning, starting at 5:00 AM, Sudbury Minutemen will march off from the Town Center at 5:45 AM as they have done every year on 4/19.
