Fatal Route 117 Collision Under Investigation

Two people were injured, and one person died in the head-on collision Thursday morning.

LINCOLN, MA — One person died and two others were injured Thursday morning in a collision along Route 117 near Route 126.

According to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, the crash happened just before 9:15 a.m. along Route 117 near Sweet Bay Lane west of Route 126. The driver of a Jeep Wrangler crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a pickup truck, the DA's office said in a news release.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the DA's office, state police and Lincoln police. The identity of the driver who died was not immediately released pending notification of her family.

The collision closed Route 117 between Route 126 and the Concord line, but the road had reopened as of noon Thursday.
