Sudbury Art Teacher Who Died Of Cancer Will Get Own Day
Colby Caravaggio, an art teacher at Peter Noyes Elementary, died Thursday, according to his family.

SUDBURY, MA — A Sudbury art teacher who died last week after battling pancreatic cancer will be remembered with his own town day.
Colby Caravaggio, 54, was diagnosed with cancer in July, and continued to teach at Peter Noyes Elementary until Feb. 16. He taught at the school for 25 years, and was remembered for his spirit and contributions to art education.
"Mr. C has brought so much joy to students for 25 years — the schoolwide art show, the river stones, the pottery, the joy of creativity — and now is the time to share our love with him and his family," Noyes administrative secretary Jean Maguire wrote in a GoFundMe appeal, which raised more than $85,000 for Caravaggio's wife.

Apart from teaching, Caravaggio was an accomplished potter, and held an annual pottery auction that benefited many local charities from Autism Speaks to the Sudbury Food Pantry.
A funeral for Caravaggio, a Wrentham resident, will be held Saturday at St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square, in Franklin at 11 a.m. The Sudbury Select Board on Tuesday will vote to proclaim March 22 as Colby Caravaggio Day in town.
