Academic, Sports Honors for Swampscott Residents

Check out the latest round of accolades for Swampscott residents in higher education.

A couple of Swampscott residents are receiving praise for academic and sports accomplishments at their respective schools:

Maggie Carey, a student at Emmanuel College, earned end-of-season recognition from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with First Team All-Conference honors.

Carey, a junior captain for the Saints this year, earned First Team honors after being a Second Team member last year. The Swampscott native scored three game-winning goals this season, including a golden goal in overtime of the GNAC semifinals at Johnson & Wales.

During her three years at Emmanuel, Carey has posted 12 goals and seven assists for 31 points over 67 games and will return as one of the team leaders in 2016.

Emmanuel College women’s soccer finished the year as the GNAC runner-up after posting an 11-8-3 overall record and an 8-2-1 record in GNAC play.

Andrew Baker, a member of Union College’s Class of 2017 majoring in Political Science, will travel to London, England, studying theater and dance in the city’s world-renowned theater scene.
