'Amazing' Swampscott Mom Is 'Loving, Giving, Thoughtful & Selfless'

SWAMPSCOTT, MA— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My Mom is one of the most amazing women I've ever known. I am the oldest of three. I have two siblings — one sister and one brother. Our parents were divorced when we were in grade school, and she raised us alone in Swampscott. She was a single parent with three kids! We didn't have a lot of money, but we were shown and given so much love that it didn't matter. She made sure we had everything we needed growing up, while she sacrificed every day to make sure we were happy, healthy and safe. As years passed, her children had children, and she helped each one of us with raising our our kids; her grandchildren. She is now a 72 year young woman who is raising her great-grandson. She has so much energy, is always smiling and will offer her time to anyone who needs it. She loves children and has such an amazing way with them. She truly cares and she is so special to anyone's life she touches.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

This woman is the most loving, giving, thoughtful and selfless human being I have ever known. She will give you the shirt off her back AND her last dollar. She has always been the "Mary Poppins" of her neighborhood, inviting all of the children in to play and have homemade goodies.
