  1. Machon School’s Future: Come to the Swampscott High School cafeteria Tuesday at 7 p.m. to hear about the concepts proposed for reusing the now-vacant Machon Elementary School.
  2. Veterans Day: Schools, town offices and the library will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. (For more, see “Veterans Day: What’s Closed, What’s Open in Swampscott”). The town will also host a Veterans Day ceremony at Thomson Circle on Monument Avenue at 11 a.m.
  3. Picture Book Month: The Swampscott Public Library is celebrating Picture Book Month throughout November. On Saturday, Nov. 14, children are invited to a special “Pete the Cat” storytime at 11 a.m. The librarian will read stories about Pete and children will complete a craft.
  4. Improve Swampscott Schools survey: Swampscott Public Schools is seeking the public’s input as it plans the future of the school system and how best to meet needs in the community. The survey can be completed online.
  5. Big Blue in the MIAA tournament. The boys’ soccer team will face Wayland (1) in the semifinal round of the Division 3 North MIAA tournament. The match is at Wayland, but the boys would no doubt appreciate some fans on the sidelines. The time is TBA.
