I am very grateful of my upbringing in Swampscott!! I am now 80 years old, the time has passed so quickly. I am grateful for the home Swampscott provided, safety to ride bicycles and great schools. The ocean and diving through the waves, but most of all, the friends I still have from my Swampscott years. God Bless Swampscott!

Why does this mean so much to you?

Looking back 75 years coming to Swampscott, starting school there and making lifelong friends, I felt very safe there, warm and nurtured by the town. Slow down and smell the roses as they say because it feels like a few years ago I went to Swampscott High and left in 1963, seems such a short time ago. Swampscott is a very special oceanside town!

How has this made a difference in your 2025?

I am in my 80th year and yet I find myself going back to Swampscott when I am feeling down and it cheers me each time, driving in along Lynnshore Drive and then past Fisherman's Beach. Swampscott is a very unique town and hope the town Fathers keep it that way.

What do you wish others knew about what you’re thankful for?

I want those who now live in Swampscott to appreciate what they have and not take it for granted. I hate it when big shops come to town and put the little guy out. The little guy is what makes Swampscott, the unique, beautiful town it is. Appreciate it!
