Hadley School Principal Leaves For Watertown School
Hadley School Principal Stacey Phelan turned in her resignation earlier this month after nearly three years in the position.
SWAMPSCOTT, MA – A press release from Superintendent Pamela R. H. Angelakis announcing Hadley School Principal Stacey Phelan's resignation implied that the aging school building played a factor in Phelan's choice.
Phelan has accepted a principal position at the Lowell Elementary School in Watertown, to begin July 1, according to the press release. She was with Swampscott Schools since October 2014.
"Our community needs to understand that our school district will continue to lose talented and skilled leaders who are passionate about educating our children if we do not tackle the issue of our significantly deficient elementary facilities," read the press release. "Our students, teachers, and principals deserve so much more than what we are currently providing."

Angelakis noted in the statement that the Hadley School is more than 100 years old, and its maintenance and management takes up a lot of the school day.
The press release called Phelan a "passionate instructional leader who will be missed." Angelakis wished Phelan "nothing but the best in her future endeavors.

The interim principals for Swampscott High School and Middle School were recently made permanent.
