After several inches of rain fell Tuesday, light rain and showers are coming back through the area Wednesday afternoon.

Weather Underground said 3.93 inches of rain fell in Swampscott on Tuesday. In neighboring Lynn, the National Weather Service said 2.06 inches fell. In Beverly, to the north, as of 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 3.99 inches of rain had fallen at the weather station at Beverly Airport. Nearby in Danvers, the weather service said 3.7 inches of rain had fallen as of Tuesday night.
More light rain, followed by showers will move into the area Wednesday afternoon. Snow showers are expected Thursday morning before warmer, yet partly cloudy skies return on Friday. The weekend looks cool and dry.
