SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Mark N. Mercer, 56, died peacefully at home in Swampscott of cancer, Sunday morning, Jan 23, 2022. He lived his life to the fullest.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 27 years, Kim Mercer; children: Daniel and Marin; stepmom: Meredith Mercer; siblings: Mike, Terrill and Andrew; and in-laws: Peter & Marie, and Paul & Edel Flannery. He was predeceased by his parents: Jim and Gayle Mercer

After growing up in The Netherlands, he went to high school in Virginia and attended college in Boston, MA. There, Mark met his wife Kim where they settled and raised their two children, Daniel and Marin on the Northshore. With his warm welcoming smile, he was a dedicated, determined, loving, and fun father who enjoyed spending time with family, relatives, and friends. Mark took a genuine interest in other's lives, fostered a sense of humor, and was filled with effervescent optimism.

Professionally, he found a wonderful career and community at Education First, Cambridge MA. Committed to his work there for 20 years, last serving as VP of Operations, he took great joy in being a mentor and he regarded his colleagues as extended family. He loved a challenge in and outside work. He was an active member of the EF running club and participated in marathons, triathlons, and particularly enjoyed being part of the Ragnar Reach the Beach relay.

Mark was touched by everyone he knew and wanted all to know that they held a special place in his heart.

A Visitation will be held at Solimine Funeral Home, on Friday, Jan 28, at 67 Ocean St., Lynn, MA 01902, from 4-7P.M. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. For online guestbook, please visit www.solimine.com.
