New Elementary School to Be Focus of Two Open Forums

Two open forums have been scheduled for residents to get questions about a plan to build a new townwide elementary school.

The public will have a chance to ask questions and hear more about plans to build a new Swampscott elementary school at two open forums in advance of next month’s Special Town Meeting vote.

The School Building Committee will hold two public forums - the first is Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. at Stanley School. The second forum will be Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at Swampscott High School.

The new school would replace the town’s three existing elementary schools and be for all students in grades 1-4. It would be built adjacent to the existing Middle School. The Clarke School would then be an early childhood education center for kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students.
