On Monday, Rozmiarek was placed on administrative leave until further notice, according to a letter sent to parents and press on Tuesday, Dec. 8 from Superintendent Pamela Angelakis. In the letter, Angelakis said she could offer no further details on a “pending personnel matter.”
A second letter, sent home Thursday with students and released to press, stated that the district could not discuss the details of Rozmiarek’s leave for “legal reasons,” but “there are no allegations being reviewed that to our knowledge involve any students in the Swampscott Public Schools nor do they have any financial implications.”

According to Thursday’s letter, the district’s decisions are always based “on the safety and well-being of our students.”
Trooper David Cravedi in the Massachusetts State Police’s media relations office said he could “neither confirm nor deny” that state police are engaged in an investigation related to Rozmiarek. Crevedi could only confirm that police had not arrested anyone by the name of “Edward Rozmiarek.”
Parents were directed to contact SHS Assistant Principal Frank Kowalski with any questions “regarding your student(s) high school experience.”
