Snow Angels Seek to Help Elderly and Disabled Residents

Neighborhood group For The Love of Swampscott starts a new project to shovel elderly and disabled residents out after storms.

For the Love of Swampscott is a non-profit founded by residents to encourage town-wide activities and raise awareness for existing town resources. The group has started a Snow Angel program to help elderly and disabled residents by assisting with snow removal.

Treasurer Tessa Cogliano told Patch that this is the program's first year. She said, "We want to make sure that the elderly/ disabled are able to get out of their houses after a snow storm and to do that, we have let immediate neighbors of theirs know that this person is seeking help when a snow storm occurs." The group is not signing people up for specific jobs, but rather, is encouraging the community to talk to their neighbors and see who needs help. Nevertheless, people with snowblowers are responding. Cogliano said, "We have had a couple of people reach out wanting to volunteer, and that's amazing."

If you know of anyone who could benefit from the program, email fortheloveofswampscott@gmail.com.
