Strong Thunderstorms Could Move in Tuesday

Heat index values are also expected to soar Tuesday afternoon.

Scattered thunderstorms could hit Swampscott on Tuesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service said there was a chance of thunderstorms for eastern and central Massachusetts after 2 p.m. As of 2 p.m., strong storms were moving across the Quabbin Reservoir and through the Gardner area in central Massachusetts. Some of those storms included hail.

Meanwhile, heat index values were expected to hit 95 degrees.

Temperatures were expected to hover in the mid- to high-80s the rest of the week, with a chance of thunderstorms Saturday.
