Swampscott Considers Second Election Delay
The election has contested races for selectmen, school committee, housing authority and more than 108 Swampscott town meeting members.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Selectmen are expected to reschedule the annual town election for a second time when they meet next week.
The election has contested races for selectmen, school committee, housing authority and more than 108 Swampscott town meeting members. In a virtual meeting Monday, Swampscott selectmen did not signal when the new election date would be.

In March, selectmen pushed the Swampscott election to June 2 from April 28 under a state order allowing municipalities to delay spring elections as a result of the coronavirus crisis. Under the state order, towns need to hold their elections by June 30. At the same time, selectmen moved the annual town meeting to June 22 from May 18.
Massachusetts voters can request mail-in ballots, and officials are encouraging voters who do go to the polls to bring their own blue or black ink pen.
