Swampscott Holiday Parade Set for Dec. 16
The Swampscott Police Association will host its annual holiday parade on Saturday, Dec. 16.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The Swampscott Police Association has announced the date for this year's annual holiday parade.
The 2017 Swampscott Holiday Parade, hosted by the Swampscott Police Association, will be held Saturday, Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m.

- Start: Swampscott High School
- Essex Street
- Burrill Street
- Paradise Road
- Vinnin Street
- Salem Street
- Humphrey Street
- End: Town Hall
Immediately after the parade, there will be music and family-friendly events at the Town Hall lawn.
In an interview with ItemLive, Ted Delano, president of the Swampscott Police Association (SPA) said funds raised from the parade go toward SPA, which helps offset the cost of putting on the event and Toys for Local Children (TLC).

People are encouraged to donate toys during the parade, which will be collected with a trolley and turned over to TLC. Last year was the biggest toy donation effort so far, Delano said.
The Recreation Dept. is also hosting a holiday festival at Town Hall from 5 to 8 p.m., with a tree lighting set for 6 p.m. just prior to the parade.
The Rec Dept. will also host a flashlight candy cane hunt at Linscott Park will be at 5:30 p.m.
Other holiday activities include train rides, an inflatable ice castle bounce house, music, and crafts.
