Swampscott Library Officials to Assemble Time Capsule
Swampscott Library officials set to assemble a time capsule on Saturday, Dec. 2.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA - Swampscott Library officials will mark the end of a year long 100th birthday celebration on Saturday, Dec. by creating a time capsule, according to Wicked Local.
The event is open to the public and will begin at 2 p.m. in the library’s 61 Burrill St. building.
Alyce Deveau, executive director of Swampscott Public Library said everyone should bring a small token of memorabilia from the year of 2017 for inclusion the time capsule. Staff, she added, will attempt to include everything brought in.

“If we can’t fit it in the time capsule, we will return it to you,” said Deveau. “We will seal the capsule and leave on one of the landings of the stairs, so that in 100 years, someone will be here to open it.”
Creation of the capsule is the bookend to a handful of celebratory programs - specifically marking the 100th year in which the public library has operated out of its Burrill Street location - that kicked off in January.
