All the dates you need to know to run for office in Swampscott.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA – Town nomination papers are now available in the Town Clerk's office for the local election on April 25. The last day to turn over nomination papers is March 7 at 5 p.m.

The offices that will be on the April 25 local election ballot include moderator, members of the Board of Selectmen, Board of Assessors, School Committee, Board of Health, Planning Board, and more.

Here's the schedule for obtaining and submitting papers:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 22: Town Clerk's office will stay open until 8 p.m. for candidates to obtain or submit papers
  • Friday, March 3, until 5 p.m.: The last day for candidates to obtain nomination papers for all town offices
  • Tuesday, March 7, until 5 p.m.: The last day for candidates to submit nomination papers for all town offices requiring certification, AND the last day for incumbent town meeting members to notify the town clerk in writing of their intent to run for reelection.
  • Thursday, March 23, until 5 p.m.: The last day for filing withdrawals or objections to nomination papers.
  • Wednesday, April 5, until 5 p.m.: The last day for voter registration.
  • Tuesday, April 25: Town election
  • Monday, May 15: Annual town meeting
