Swampscott Police Made 99 Arrests in 2016

Swampscott Police made more of an effort to assign officers to tasks while on duty in 2016.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA – The amount of calls for service to Swampscott Police increased by roughly 4,000 from 2015 to 2016, partly the result of an increased effort for officers to be more proactive.

These numbers are based on how the call was entered into the dispatch system, said Captain John Alex. Aside from the number of traffic enforcement posts and park and walks – during which an officer patrols an area on foot – the number of incidents called in remained consistent from 2015 to 2016.

There were 1,987 park and walks in 2015 compared to 2,106 in 2016. In 2015, there were 896 traffic enforcement posts compared to 2,310 in 2016.
