Swampscott Police Host Drug Take Back Day

Bring your expired and unwanted prescription drugs to the Swampscott Police Station on Saturday.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA – The Swampscott Police Department will host a drug take back day on Saturday, April 29.

Anyone can bring their expired and unwanted prescription pills to the station at 531 Humphrey St. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Swampscott Police are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Agency for the 13th annual national drug take back initiative.

"This initiative will provide an opportunity for the public to bring in pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction," said a statement from the Swampscott Police. "Expired, unused, or unwanted controlled substances in our homes are a potential source of supply for the increasing abuse of pharmaceutical drugs in the United States and an unacceptable risk to public health and safety every day."
