Swampscott Past Assaults Appear to be Linked

Two assaults in Swampscott and one in Lynn may be connected, Swampscott Police say.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA – Swampscott Police are looking for information regarding two assaults in Swampscott and one in Lynn. According to Sgt. Tim Cassidy, all three assaults took place in the area of Beach Avenue and Essex Street.

The first assault was on Dec. 7, around 7:30 a.m., police said. A woman was knocked to the ground by a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, work boots, and a bandana over his face. He was chased off toward Mountain Avenue by a nearby construction worker.

On Wednesday, Jan. 4, a woman was walking her dog when she said a man – 6 feet tall, thin build, wearing work boots, a gray hooded sweatshirt, and a bandana over his face – walked up and grabbed her rear, then fled toward Mountain Avenue.

Today around 8:45 a.m., Lynn Police report that a woman was grabbed by a man in a hooded sweatshirt on Bessom Street. Bessom Street is over the Lynn line, but is close to Beach Avenue and Essex Street.

Swampscott Police do not believe at this time that there's a connection between these assaults and the October assault in Marblehead.
