Swampscott Schools Closed Tuesday Ahead Of Possible Snowstorm
School officials said early Monday afternoon that Tuesday will be a snow day.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — All Swampscott Public Schools were closed on Tuesday as a potentially significant storm approached New England.
School officials said Monday afternoon that schools would be closed and all morning and afternoon school activities would be canceled.
The call comes ahead of what could be among the North Shore's biggest storms of the past two years with up to 8 inches or more expected during an intense stretch of snow between Tuesday morning and late Tuesday afternoon.

The Swampscott Health Department also said there will not be any trash collection on Tuesday.
Forecasts on Monday night showed a nor'easter heading for southern New England has shifted south — and with it, the high snow totals that were initially predicted across a big section of the state.

On Monday afternoon, snow totals were downgraded from 8 to 12 inches along the Mass Pike corridor to as little as 2 inches close to Boston.
The National Weather Service also shrunk the areas in the state under a winter storm warning.
The warning now encompasses southern Worcester County, plus Suffolk, most of Middlesex, Essex, Plymouth, Bristol and Barnstable County.
