Swampscott Selectmen Approve Second Election Delay
The Swampscott election, which includes contested races for selectman and school committee, was originally scheduled for April 28.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott selectmen unanimously approved pushing the town's municipal election to June 30, more than two months than the original election date of April 28.
The vote during a virtual meeting Wednesday comes as officials monitor the ongoing uncertainty during the new coronavirus pandemic. In March, selectmen pushed the Swampscott election to June 2 from April 28 under a state order allowing municipalities to delay spring elections as a result of the coronavirus crisis.
Under the state order, towns need to hold their elections by June 30. At the same time, selectmen moved the annual town meeting to June 22 from May 18.
