Swampscott 'Spray Day' Set To Provide Relief From Extreme Heat
With temperatures expected to hit the mid-90s on Friday, the Swampscott Fire Department is providing a fun way to cool off.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — With temperatures expected to hit the mid-90s on Friday, the Swampscott Fire Department is providing a fun way to cool off.
Swampscott fire will host a "Spray Day" on Friday at 6 p.m. behind the Swampscott Middle School on Forest Avenue.
The spray day will include a dousing of cool water from the fire truck as well as freeze pops for children.

All are welcome with parents or guardians required to accompany children.
The entire state except the Berkshires is under a heat advisory starting at 11 a.m. on Thursday due to possible heat index values between 95 and 100. The heat index is a measure of how hot it feels through a combination of air temperature and humidity.

The heat advisory will be in effect until Saturday night, and the advisory is meant to alert people to stay cool and hydrated, and to keep an eye on vulnerable relatives like children, the elderly and people with chronic illnesses. Many cities and towns are opening cooling centers at libraries and other community buildings to help residents escape dangerous heat.
