Swampscott Tire Slashing Suspect Arrested: Police
The suspect in dozens of tire slashing cases is also suspected of five assaults this winter.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA – Police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for 32 tire slashing incidents in Swampscott.
Mounir Rhoulam, 39, of Swampscott, was arrested on Jan. 9, on charges of trespassing, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct after a foot chase with Lynn and Swampscott Police. By tracing the GPS bracelet Rhoulam was wearing from a previous offense, police found that Rhoulam was in the area of five assaults in the area.
According to a statement from Swampscott Police, detectives asked probation to see if Rhoulam was also near the tire slashing incidents near the Lynn and Swampscott line. The GPS put Rhoulam in the area of all the Swampscott tire slashings from October to the day before his arrest.

Police note there have been no tire slashings in the area since Rhoulam's arrest. He is charges with 22 counts of malicious destruction of property under $250, and 11 counts of malicious destruction over $250.
The police statement said there had been 32 victims of tire slashing in Swampscott alone. Incidents also occurred in Lynn, Salem, Swampscott, and Saugus.
