Swampscott Varsity Team Gets New Field

The $2 million project is completed.

SWAMPSCOTT— The Blocksidge field will open after a six month face-lift. The field will re-open Saturday, Sept 9 at 12:30p.m., with a dedication ceremony, activities, and an inaugural game.

The field has been closed for renovations since March 20, when crews began tearing out the existing field and replacing it with a new field that will be used for Swampscott High football, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey teams. The Town of Swampscott approved $1.65 million for the turf field in May 2015, and non-profit AllBlue Foundation raised an additional $345,000 for the project.

Here is the calendar for opening day!
