Teen Charged with False High School Bomb Threat
A 17-year-old from Swampscott has been charged in connection with the bomb threat that emptied Swampscott High School on Thursday morning.

A 17-year-old Swampscott teenager has been charged in connection to Thursday morning’s false bomb threat at Swampscott High School.
Police said the boy was arrested on Thursday at about 5:30 p.m. near the Swampscott Public Library on Burrill Street.
The boy faces charges of disturbing the peace, disturbing a school assembly, false fire alarm and false bomb threat based on a warrant drawn up by investigators before his arrest. He was also charged with possession of a knife over 2-½ inches when he was arrested.

He was arraigned in Lynn Juvenile Court on Friday morning, reports The Boston Globe.
The threat was received at about 9:30 a.m. on Thursday and the school was emptied. Students were later sent home and investigators combed through the school. Most afterschool activities were cancelled on Thursday afternoon and the adjacent Senior Center was closed after the threat on Thursday. School resumed as usual on Friday.

The assistant principal told NECN that the person who called in the threat is a student.
