Wind Gusts to 50 MPH, Heavy Rain Could Down Trees, Cut Power
A wind advisory and flood watch is in effect for Thursday and Friday for Swampscott.

Heavy rain and strong winds are predicted for Swampscott between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service issued a wind advisory on Wednesday morning that runs through 8 a.m. on Thursday for strong northeast winds that may down tree limbs and cut power.

The wind may gust to 30-40 miles per hour on Thursday afternoon, with the strongest gusts on Thursday night up to 50 miles per hour. Coastal Essex County, including Swampscott, will see the strongest gusts.
Additionally, the weather service said the entire Greater Boston area will get between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain, but some areas may pick up as much as 4 inches of rain. The NWS issued a flood watch for Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

The heavy rain is expected to begin between 5 and 8 p.m. Wednesday and will continue through the night and into Thursday morning.
The NWS said the heavy rain will impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
