Police say Brian Donahue pulled a knife on Albert Echenique, who later threatened Donahue with a baseball bat early Saturday.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Two men were arrested early Saturday after being accused of threatening one another with weapons — one allegedly had a knife, the other allegedly had a baseball bat — during a confrontation at a local motel, the Tewksbury Police Department said.
Brian Donahue, 41, of Tewksbury, and Albert Echenique, 51, of Lowell, were taken into custody at Motel 6, located at 95 Main St, according to police.
Donahue was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (knife) and resisting arrest and Echenique was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (baseball bat), the Tewksbury PD said.

According to police reports, shortly after midnight, the Tewksbury PD received an emergency call from a guest at the motel — later believed to be Echenique — who said a man had pulled a knife during an altercation at the motel.
Police said officers arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation.

The Tewksbury PD said it was determined that both men were aggressors in the argument at different times.
The department said that Donahue allegedly pulled a knife on Echenique. Later, Echenique allegedly reignited the argument by approaching Donohue with a baseball bat and pointing it at Donohue in a threatening manner.
According to the Tewksbury PD, during the investigation and arrest, Donohue refused to comply with police orders, attempting to escape from a police cruiser by pushing his way past two officers.
Police said that after several warnings, officers twice were forced to pepper spray Donohue in order to gain the suspect's compliance and transport him to the Tewksbury Police Department for booking.
