2. It's Happening Today: Boston History Writer to Speak at Tewksbury Public Library. It’s a common belief that our Puritan forefathers were an austere and prudish population, though in fact, many of them began their day with a frothy mug of flip or a large tankard of ale. Boston history writer and journalist Stephanie Schorow dispels this and other misconceptions about Boston’s long and storied relationship with alcohol and barrooms in her new book Drinking Boston: A History of the City and Its Spirits, which she will discuss at Tewksbury Public Library on Tuesday, March 5th at 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and attendees are asked to register through the library’s website ahead of time.

5. Fire on Ice: The Tewksbury/Methuen girls varsity hockey team is now two wins away from a Division 2 Championship in their first year as a varsity program. Last night, the No. 20 Red Rangers (11-7-3) upset No. 5 Gardner for their third straight tournament win. Their semifinal opponent will be No. 1 seed Duxbury.
