Angelina's Italian Ristorante Granted Entertainment License

Live music will include keyboard and vocals.

Music, singing and maybe even a little dancing are returning to 1866 Main St.

At its meeting on Tuesday, the Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to grant an entertainment license to Angelina's Italian Ristorante.

Angelina's opened last year in the same space that once was home to The Black Olive, a restaurant that also featured live entertainment.

Appearing before the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday, Angelina's owner Sue Amato said the type of entertainment the restaurant will offer won't result in any rowdy crowds. The said there is a keyboard player who performs weekly and she is looking to hire a vocalist to perform on a weekly basis also.

"It's not loud music. And we stop serving at 9 p.m.," said Amato. "We wanted to add something that we haven't had for a while. It's something that we used to have (at the restaurant she managed) in Boston."

Amato's application to the board included a request to allow dancing, although she admited Angelina's doesn't have a dance floor.

"It's people like my mother, who's 84, when she hears this music she just wants to get up and dance," said Amato, with a laugh.

David Gay, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, took a moment to offer his personal endorsement of the restaurant.

“I’ve been there twice, including on Valentine’s Day,” said Gay. “The food and the service were both excellent. I highly recommend it.”
