Donna M. Powers, 66

Active at St. William's Parish.

Donna M. Powers, age 66, a well known member of the Tewksbury community, died peacefully during the night, in her home, on January 28.

She was born in Cambridge, January 23, 1947, one of eight children of the late Karl J. and Ursula A. “Bubbles” (Horgan) Powers.  She had resided in Tewksbury her entire life, and was an active parishioner of St. William’s Parish.  Donna was retired after  more than 30 years with USAF Research Laboratory at Hanscom AFB.  She was a vocalist, who was a part of the St. William’s Choir, the Tewksbury Interfaith Choir, as well as the Tewksbury Senior’s Choir.

Donna was a member of  the Billerica Irish-American Club.  She was a member of the Monday night league at the Collins Bowladrome in Billerica, and the Thursday morning golf league at the Tewksbury Country Club.  She enjoyed travelling, family vacations, her friends, and spending time at the beach.

But, her legacy was her love and devotion to her parents as well as being a "second mother" to her siblings and many nieces and nephews.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her siblings, Kathleen J. “Kathy” Mercer and her husband Bruce of Albuquerque, NM, Karl Joseph Powers of Lowell, John Robert Powers and his wife Debra (Gadbois) of Reading, Edward F. Powers and his wife Donna (DeVita) of Rowley, Stephen M. Powers of Tewksbury, Patricia A. Clark and her husband Stephen of Bradford, VT, Karla J. Humphreys and her husband William of Lowell; nineteen nieces and nephews, seven grand nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins.

Visiting hours Friday, Feb. 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte.38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, phone (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.  Her funeral will begin Saturday, Feb. 2, at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury.  Burial will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Oblate Fathers Infirmary Fund, 486 Chandler St. Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.  tewksburyfuneralhome.com
