The contributions of the Ginsburg family to the Tewksbury School Department and the town has a whole have been well chronicled. The Tewksbury School Committee has made sure those efforts will never be forgotten.
At their Jan. 23 meeting, the school committee publicly recognized Marc and Leisa Ginsburg for 26 years of generous support. But they went one giant step forward. School Committee Chairwoman Krissy Polimeno introduced the Ginsburg Family Award, which will be presented annually to someone in the community who exemplifies the Ginsburg's spirit of philanthropy and community pride.
"It was quite unexpected," said Marc Ginsburg. "We're very happy and very humbled by the whole thing.

In introducing the award, Polimeno spoke about the many hours the Ginsburg’s volunteered in the schools and at extra-curricular activities from the time the first of their three children entered the Tewksbury Public Schools in 1989. She also spoke of the family's financial contributions and their donation of space at the Tewksbury Country Club to be used for many community events.
"We are indeed fortunate to have an impressive facility such as the Tewksbury Country Club in our town that hosts many different events including National Honor Society Awards, Tewksbury Education Foundation Auction, Father/Daughter Dance, Ring Ceremony/Dinner for State Championships for our Hockey Team and so much more. Some of our students best memories happened at the Tewksbury Country Club," said Polimeno. "Another example was when Marc and Leisa recently donated an extremely generous amount of books to our schools. We could go on all evening with all the wonderful things they have done."

Marc Ginsburg said he doesn't believe there is anything in what he and Leisa have done. Rather, he said he feels it's important for those who've enjoyed success in business to actively give back.
"I've worked in Tewksbury my whole life," he said. "If (you enjoy success) and you can't give back to the community then shame on you."
