Lawrence Man Arrested on Drug Charges

A Lawrence man is under arrest on drug distribution charges.

On Tuesday, the Tewksbury Police arrested Jean Carlos Ortiz, 19, of 3 Wendell
Street, Apartment # 2, Lawrence, for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and
heroin.

According to police, they were conducting surveillance and observed a suspicious person operating a motor vehicle in the Kennedy Road area.

Subsequent to the vehicle being stopped, the driver Ortiz, was identified, police said. Through the Officers' investigation, and with the assistance of a drug detection K-9 Unit, cocaine and heroin were located inside the vehicle.

Ortiz was arraigned at Lowell District Court on Wednesday morning.
