Millbury Reaches Host Community Agreement for Slots Parlor
Millbury Selectmen approved a host community agreement with Mass Gaming and Entertainment.

Millbury Selectmen reached a host community agreement Tuesday with Mass Gaming and Entertainment to bring a slots parlor to the central Massachusetts community, according to a report from WCVB.
Under the agreement, Mass Gaming will make an initial payment of $500,000 and annual payments of at least $3.25 million if the company wins the one slots parlor license the state will award, according to WCVB.
Much like the host community agreement here in Tewksbury, Millbury's agreement would give preference to residents in jobs created by the project, according to WCVB.
A referendum vote has been scheduled in Millbury for Sept. 24., according to WCVB.
Tewksbury recently made a similar agreement with Penn National Gaming for a proposed $200 million slots parlor at 300 Ames Pond Drive.
Penn will be required to make payments of approximately $4 million annually including:
- $3 million in estimated property taxes
- $1 million in mitigation payments (this will increase by 2.5 percent beginning in the fourth year of the agreement)
- $120,000 contributions to fund Tewksbury's capital expenditures
