Police Warn of Phone Scam Involving National Grid

Tewksbury Police are warning residents about this recent scam and telling you what not to do if you do receive one of these calls.

TEWKSBURY, MA - The Tewksbury Police Department is alerting residents about a telephone scam involving National Grid and they want you to share the information here with friends and family in the area.

Police say a resident was recently contacted via telephone by someone claiming to be the National Grid “disconnect department.” The caller stated there was a crew on their way to disconnect service due to non payment. The caller then requested a credit card in order to cancel the disconnect.

Tewksbury Police say National Grid was made aware of this call and are advising that customers should never provide credit card information for any incoming calls and they will never solicit credit card payments over the phone.
