Tewksbury Family Swept Up In Alabama Airport Tragedy

Bizarre case of mistaken identity leads to transatlantic confusion.

A bizarre tragedy at an Alabama airport last week has swept up a Tewksbury family in its wake, due to a case of mistaken identity.

The incident began when Heather Bresette and her three children were crushed by a 300-pound arrival/departure sign at the airport. Her 10-year-old son Luke was killed. She and the other two children were seriously injured.

Shortly afterward, the home of Heather Bresette in Tewksbury began being flooded with phone calls, texts, emails and Facebook messages of condolence and concern, according to a report on MyFoxBoston.com.

There was just one problem. The family struck by tragedy was from Kansas. The Tewksbury Bresette family was 1200 miles away a the time of the accident.

What caused the confusion? It seems to be a mix of coincidence and shoddy new-age journalism.

A The Daily Mail of England, covering the story, posted photos of what they believed to be the Kansas Bresette family. However, the photos were of the Tewksbury Bresette's. Heather Bresette told Fox News it appeared the photos had been culled from her Facebook page.

There are similarities between the two families, besides a mom named Heather. The Kansas family has a dad named Ryan, the Tewksbury family has a son named Ryan. Both families have daughters named Anna, according to the MyFoxBoston.com report.
