Tewksbury Holiday Celebration, Tree Lighting Scheduled For Dec. 2

TEWKSBURY, MA — The Town of Tewksbury has announced details of its annual Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting, which will take place next week.

The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the Town Common, located at 1009 Main St. The Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting is free and also will include activities for kids, entertainment, food and drink.

For the kids, there will be balloon animals, crafts and a chance to write letters to Santa. In fact, the jolly man himself is scheduled to visit with families in Town Hall right after the tree lighting.

Carolers will provide the entertainment, and there will be the staging of an ice sculpture, which is being donated by the Wilmington/Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce.

According to organizers, food and drink is expected to include: marshmallows roasting on open fires, hot chocolate, warm cider, roasted nuts and other treats.

Attendees also are asked to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the local toy drive.

"Children in our community benefit from your generosity," organizers reminded community members in a statement.

Town officials said parking for the event will be available at Town Hall, the Annex, and at Tewksbury Funeral Home, at 967 Main Street.

According to organizers, the Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting event is put on with the support of the Tewksbury Town Manager's office, Tewksbury Police Department, Tewksbury Fire Department and the Tewksbury Department of Public Works.
