Tewksbury Man Pleads Not Guilty To Kicking, Spitting On Police

A Tewksbury man is facing multiple charges after allegedly spitting on and kicking police officers who had been called to remove him from a home on Jefferson Road.

David Robson, 53, of 14 Jefferson Road, was arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court, charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest, according to an article appearing in the Lowell Sun.

Robson pled not guilty to the charges and was released on $2,500 cash bail. He is due back in court April 10.

According to court records, the incident began on St. Patrick's Day, when Tewksbury Police were called by a homeowner and asked to remove an unwanted, intoxicated man from a home on Jefferson Road.

When officers first arrived on the scene, Robson was allegedly outside the home and began walking directly toward an officer. When Robson refused repeated commands to stay back, an officer fired a Taser, striking Robson in the stomach and chest, according to court records.

Despite the impact of the Taser charge, Robson allegedly continued yelling at officers and threatened to kill one of them. According to court documents, as police were trying to handcuff Robson, he allegedly kicked one in the leg with a walking cast and later spit on another officer and claimed to have AIDS.

Court records indicate Robson has been arrested multiple times in the past on assault charges.
