TEWKSBURY, MA — The Town of Tewksbury is asking residents to fill out a short survey that will help with the update of Tewksbury's Housing Production Plan.

The survey should take less than 5 minutes and is available online through Jan. 9, according to Tewksbury officials.

The six-question survey asks residents questions about housing issues in Tewksbury and what housing initiatives should be prioritized in the coming years.

The Town of Tewksbury is working with the Northern Middlesex Council of Governments (NMCOG) on the Housing Production Plan, and both entities have worked together to develop the survey.

When completed, the Housing Production Plan for 2022-2026 will help guide Tewksbury's decisions on how to support affordable housing, what kind of housing development or redevelopment the Town hopes to create, and how the Town and its partners can work toward ensuring that people can afford a home that meets their needs, officials said.

The plan, Tewksbury officials said, is designed to complement and build upon the Tewksbury Master Plan 2016 and will serve as a framework for considering permit projects, zoning changes, expenditures and other actions that Tewksbury and its partners can undertake to increase the supply of affordable housing.

The project is supported by an NMCOG District Local Technical Assistance grant funded by the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).

In November, Tewksbury hosted its first Affordable Housing Workshop, where the NMCOG housing planning team presented important town housing data, findings and trends.

Tewksbury officials said eight to 10 residents attended the workshop, and they were able to ask questions during the presentation. Officials said they plan to schedule another workshop after the survey deadline in order to discuss the findings.
