An Announcement on Wakefield's 2015 Fourth of July Extravaganza

The theme of this year's parade is "Foundation of Democracy – America's Volunteers."

The following press release was sent to Wakefield Patch from Cheryl Dalton, Wakefield Float Chair:

Summer is on the way and what better way to welcome it than with a parade!

The Wakefield Independence Day Parade committee is inviting civic, social, professional, youth and veteran’s organizations to show their pride and join in celebrating the return of the Wakefield Independence Day Parade.

The community support and effort in the past has been fantastic with more than 30 local and regional organizations entering a float in the decoration competition. No organization is too small. No float is too small, either! The
fun and community pride that accompany the building of an Independence Day float is very rewarding.

There are two float divisions, large and small. Large floats are those that measure 20 feet or more (tractor trailer, etc.). Small floats
measure 20 feet or less (utility trailer, etc.).

Prize money is available to non-profit organizations that win the float decorating contests. Prizes will be given in each division. First place is $500, second place, $300 and third place is $100.

Be sure to bring up the idea of having a float in the Fourth of July Parade at your next organization’s meeting. Talk it up! Help the Independence Day Committee share in our area’s community pride.

The deadline for entering this year’s parade is Saturday, June 27. The entry form is available on our website. If you have any questions, please free to contact Cheryl Dalton, Float Chair at this email.

Help us make the Parade the way it should be - - a total community effort!

The theme for the 2015 Wakefield Independence Day Parade is “Foundation of Democracy – America’s Volunteers.”
